Emirates Shipping Line stated today that in light of recent market developments it is announcing a General Rate Increase on its Middle East trade lane in line with market conditions.

The quantum and date of implementation are as below:

Scope: all westbound shipments to Middle East region from Far East and South East Asia

Quantum: USD500/20' and USD1000/40' containers

Validity: from 1st November 2013 till further notice

Emirates Shipping Line today announced that an agency agreement has been signed with Mitsui-Soko Co. Ltd. The new venture caters for the current AGX service calling Osaka and Yokohama as well as other ongoing service opportunities encompassing ports of Japan.

On the appointment of the new agency, Vikas Khan, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Shipping Line said, “This appointment is in line with our strategy of expanding our international service coverage. We are delighted that Mitsui-Soko Co. Ltd will go a long way in ensuring to uphold our service image. This will strengthen the Line’s presence in one of the strongest markets in Asia. We look forward to many successful years together.”

On this occasion, a statement was issued by Mitsui-Soko Co. Ltd which stated “We are pleased to have been appointed to represent Emirates Shipping Line in Japan and look forward to a mutually beneficial long-standing business relationship. We look forward in ensuring our customers unique advantage through excellent service support and efficiency,”

Mitsui –Soko is a member of the Mitsui group with a long experience of 30 years in the shipping agency and 40 years in the terminal operations. They are well represented in most of the Japanese ports.
